Brutality Garden

In an effort to keep my blog central to a theme, I offer up some essential reading.

Brutality Garden: Tropicalia and the Emergence of a Brazilian Counterculture by Christopher Dunn. I read this for the second time last week and am amazed at how comprehensive this guy is. Honestly, I don't think there is another era in music that is as enlightening and interesting as the late 60's/early 70's in Brazil. This book leaves no stone unturned.

Now if only someone could put this into documentary form. Seeing any footage of these performers live, in their prime, would be icing on the cake. I've scoured many stores in Brazil for this type of nostalgia, but the closest thing I could find is Jorge Ben-Jor MTV Unplugged. Ugh. Any help will be rewarded.
