Pronounced "DON-UH-VAH"

Yes, this show was over a week ago, but the sonic vortex Portland's Danava created is still ringing in my ears. There are truly few words that can describe them. I was a bit miffed at Pitchfork's recent treatment of their new, self-titled, album, because the most discriminate heads and psych disciples will surely delight in the endless folds of phase, feedback, and space junk that envelop their heavy boogie metal. Live this translated to something quite transcendental. Guitarist Dusty Sparkles starred as the time-traveling, hirsute, goblin, chewing up oxygen with five-minute, hold-yr-breath, solos. This must've been what it was like to see Amon Duul/Captain Beyond/Hawkwind in their primes; other-planetary beings going off the hinges. Show of the year.

Of course the whole reason for a packed Monday night at Little Brothers was to see Sweden's Witchcraft, but even they had to bow in submission to an opening band that should be headlining this tour every night.
